Volunteering is an excellent way to give back to your community while gaining valuable experience. It is important to remember that there are certain age restrictions when joining a voluntary organization in Clark County. All volunteers must abide by these restrictions in order to participate in any volunteer activity. Adopters and group leaders must be 18 years of age or older.
Construction volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. The VOL JUR program is funded by the State of Nevada and eligible young adults can enroll in this program between the ages of 18 and 21, but they must enroll during the period they leave the foster home. If you are re-enrolling as a 4-H volunteer from Lewis and Clark County, re-enroll in ZSuites starting October 1 and pay the registration fees by December 31. To qualify, young people must have turned 18 while they were children in foster care in Nevada. By working side by side with the family, our construction volunteers experience the joy that comes when a family can realize their dream of homeownership.
Volunteers are involved in most phases of home construction. Volunteers at the Clark County Habitat Store perform a variety of tasks, including providing helpful customer service, pricing products, stocking shelves, creating DIY projects and displays, painting store signs, recycling metals, and organizing inventory. We offer several forms of financial assistance (and referrals to our network of community partners) to help young adults, including housing assistance, educational assistance, employment assistance, transportation, resources, and case management. This includes funds for rental assistance, help paying moving fees and deposits, moving kits (kitchen items, cleaning supplies, etc.) Young adults participating in the program will be hired by a qualified case manager who will help them on their path to self-sufficiency. Together, they will work to develop individualized plans for each case, and the young adult will have access to someone who will defend him and help guide him.

The Clark County Resource Guide provides access to important community connections related to housing and homelessness. Share was founded in 1979 by a group of volunteers whose compassion inspired them to take steps to create this organization and help those in need in Clark County. These activities also support the Public Works mission to improve Clark County's quality of life by providing transportation, environmental, and park facilities and services.
